Privacy Policy
Find The Sniper ("the game", "we") is a free photo game made by the r/FindTheSniper mod team. It is not affiliated with Reddit, Inc. This page explains, in plain words, what information the game keeps about you and why. Questions? Write to findthesnipergame@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, or the name and email Google shares with us if you sign in with Google, and the username you choose.
- Your game results: which photos you played, whether you found the sniper or gave up, how many misses, and whether you used a hint. This is used for your stats, XP and rank.
- Things you post: photos you submit, comments, votes, hearts and thumbs down, and reports you send.
- Your choices: players you block.
- Bug reports: your message, an optional screenshot, the page and photo you were on, and your device type, browser and screen size.
- Playing without an account: your progress is saved only on your device, in your browser's storage.
Before a submitted photo is stored, the game removes its location (GPS) information.
What other players can see
Your username, rank, level, XP, game stats, the photos you posted and your comments are public in the game. Your email address is never shown to other players or to moderators.
Why we use it
- To run the game: your account, progress, ranks, comments and photos.
- To keep the game safe: moderation, reports, blocking and bans.
- To fix problems: the bugs and issues you report.
We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Who stores it for us
- Supabase: accounts, game data and photos.
- Vercel: hosts the website (it keeps short technical logs, like IP addresses, for security).
- Google: "Continue with Google" sign-in, and the website's fonts.
These companies may store data outside your country. They only handle it to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep your information as long as you have an account. Bug reports are kept while we work on the problem, and deleted when they are no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it, by writing to findthesnipergame@gmail.com.
You can delete your account yourself at any time: My profile → Delete my account. This deletes your username, stats, XP, votes and reports. Your comments are removed, or shown as "[deleted]" when other people replied to them. Your photos that are in the game stay in the game without your name, unless you tick "Also delete my photos". You can also ask us later to remove a photo you posted.
If you live in Morocco, these rights come from Law 09-08 on personal data protection. If you live in the European Union, from the GDPR. You can also contact your country's data protection authority.
Age
You must be 13 or older to create an account. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we will delete it.
Photos from Reddit
Some photos are added from r/FindTheSniper with the poster's permission and credited to them. If one of them is yours and you want it removed, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
